Dear Center Member,
We have reached that time of year when the Jewish Community Center of Long Beach Island begins to ready itself for High Holy Day Services. For the Hebrew year 5771, Rosh Hashana will be celebrated on Wednesday evening, Thursday & Friday, September 8, 9, and 10 and Yom Kippur on Friday evening and Saturday, September 17 & 18.
Again this year, a portion of our worship service will be held at the LBI Foundation of the Arts and Sciences in Loveladies. Your response to past years’ services at this facility was overwhelmingly positive. Services for the two days of Rosh Hashana and Kol Nidre and the Yom Kippur morning service will be held at the Foundation. Evening services for Rosh Hashana, Neilah and the Annual Sisterhood Break-the-Fast will be held at the JCC. A complete schedule is enclosed.
The Holidays are very early this year. With Rosh Hashana taking place during Labor Day week we expect an even larger demand for tickets, so please get your request in early.
In order to ensure our members’ seating needs are met, the Center will accept reservations from members until August 5. After that date, whatever seats remain will be made available to non-members also. We want to remind you to include payment for seats in full with your reservation. Seats are for both Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. Please indicate on the reservation form whether you will attend one or both Holidays.
We plan to again have a professionally led Children’s Program on both days of Rosh Hashana. It will be held at the LBI Foundation for children ages 7 – 12, while parents/grandparents are at the main service from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
Our abbreviated Family Service is scheduled for 4:00 PM on the First Day of Rosh Hashana, September 9th at the JCC in order to accommodate our families with young children. No tickets are necessary.
We are enclosing a reservation form for High Holidays seats as well as a form for names to be included in the Roll of Remembrance. Please use the enclosed return envelope.
If you have any questions or need additional information please call Carole Nunberg at 856-985-9969.
We look forward to celebrating the High Holidays with you and your family.
Shalom and L’shanah Tovah U’Metukah!
Don Pripstein
President
